I maneuver between two distinct worlds, following my traditional Mexican heritage but also living the American dream of a career oriented woman. I am first generation Mexican American, the first woman in my family to complete university and proud daughter of a Vietnam Veteran. My childhood upbringing and strong relationship with my father have greatly influenced the person and artist I am today because of the perseverance and extraordinaire dreams I have inherited from him. Based off published research studies about epigenetics, my own artwork investigates how distinct memories can be passed down between generations. This has helped me reflect who I am and how I connect with the world around me.
